It’s semi-finals day in the WSF Men’s World Team Championship in Tauranga, New Zealand, as the four teams left make one final push for the championship tie.
Both ties today will take place on the stunning show court at the Mercury Baypark Arena, beginning with old rivals France and England at 15:00 (GMT+13) and then defending champions Egypt v first time semi-finalists Switzerland at 18:00.
Going into today’s tie, England enjoy a 5-2 head-to-head record against their European rivals, with the No.2 seeds clinching a thrilling semi-final in the 2019 in their most recent encounter.
Current England and France fourth strings Adrian Waller and Gregoire Marche played in that semi-final, with Waller recording a 75-minute win in five games as England went on to win 2-1.
Egypt, meanwhile, enjoy a 2-0 record against Switzerland. Like England and France, the last meeting between the two teams came in the 2019 championship, with Egypt recording a comfortable 3-0 win. In that tie, current Egyptian first string Ali Farag beati current Switzerland second string Dimitri Steinmann.
Also taking place today are playoff ties. At 12:00, six ties take place, with five at the Devoy Squash and Fitness Centre and one, New Zealand v South Africa, at the Mercury Arena. Then, at 15:00, the Devoy Centre hosts a further four ties.
String order today is 1-2-3.
Action from both venues (with the exception of Devoy Court 3) will be streamed for free on WORLDSQUASH.TV, with action from the Mercury Arena also available on the Olympic Channel, SQUASHTV and Sky Sport NZ (New Zealand only).
